Karen Price is the Chief Executive Officer of Breast Cancer Trials, where she is responsible for strategic leadership and management of the Group, working closely with our partners and overseeing almost 70 staff across the Business, Research and Fundraising departments.
Karen has 25 years’ experience working in various senior Federal and State Government roles, and over a decade in senior leadership in the non-for-profit sector. Her work has been focused in the health sector, where she has led significant program areas including HIV and LGBTQ+ health, cancer screening and prevention, mental health, aged care, and drug and alcohol sectors.
She is a member of the National Cervical Screening Campaign Advisory Board, NSW Women’s Advisory Council, NSW Cancer Plan Advisory Committee, and the NSW LGBTIQ+ Health Strategy Implementation Committee.
Karen has come to BCT from a Deputy CEO position at ACON (formerly the AIDS Council of NSW), where her responsibilities included the strategic and operational responsibility for three Divisions within ACON, and the creation and leadership of a new program of work in cancer screening and prevention. Karen also led the design and development of an integrated, multidisciplinary new health service in NSW, the first of its kind in Australia – Kaleido Health.
With expertise in stakeholder engagement, new business development, health sector advocacy and policy influence, research partnerships, health promotion campaigns, digital marketing and social media engagement, Karen has a passion for community and person-centred cancer prevention, improved treatments and cure efforts.
In addition to her experience and track record, Karen holds a Bachelor of Education, Secondary (Hons) from the Queensland University of Technology, a Graduate Diploma in Public Health, has undertaken the Australian Institute of Company Directors course, and the Performance Measurement for Effective Management of Nonprofit Organisations program, through the Harvard Business School.
